Soon school bells will ring and so will early morning alarm clocks.  Even though the thermometer says its still summer, the calendar brings Back to School time. Denim is a school fashion staple, so our denim care tricks are a must read to keep you at the front of the class.  For designer denim, you can always trust Westbank to keep them looking their best so we've included a

5 for 4 pant Savings Certificate with this newsletter.

Also, remember to tell your friends about our Project School Bell Program.  Westbank begins our sixth year offering cash to K-12 schools.  In just five years, we've donated more than $80,000 to more than 100 area schools. We're proud to have implemented this year-round campaign that donates 3% of pre-tax purchases to the school of your choice.  Our website offers a flyer to hand out at Back to School nights.  Check out your school's total donations here .  We enjoy being a part of this great city and thank you for supporting businesses who give back to the community.

Back To School Clothing Tips

Out With the Old

Help your child go through old clothing.  Donate outgrown items.

Make a List

Plan to buy only what you need: jeans, shirts, socks, shoes, underwear. Chances are what's in now won't be after the first two weeks in school.

Be Aware of School Dress Codes

Make note of skirt or short lengths, spaghetti straps and baggy pants rules.

On Your Marks, Get Set, Shop

Focus on good quality items that will withstand multiple washings.  Make sure items will mix and match with what they already have.

Organize

Have your child plan outfits the night before to avoid morning meltdowns.  Make sure small children have mastered zippers, snaps and buttons before the bell rings the first day.

Jean Care 101

Nearly all jeans today are prewashed, but they can still fade and shrink over time.  Follow these rules to help maintain color and fit:

1.  Always turn jeans inside out to help preserve color.

2.  Wash in cold water with a liquid detergent.  Powders don't dissolve as well in cold. Never use bleach.  Adding 1/4 white vinegar can help prolong color. Shake jeans after removing from washer to remove hard folds and creases.

3.  Wash and dry before altering or hemming.

4.  The dryer is where most fading occurs.  Air dry until almost dry and then tumble on low heat five minutes to soften.

5.  Drycleaning denim is the best way to preserve color and keep them soft. Be sure to let us know if you want them creased or pressed flat.
